Independence Day in Rome

Zone Conference

President & Sister Waddoups
Tuesday we arrived at the mission office for Zone Conference—our first Zone conference as senior missionaries! What a wonderful experience!  We heard from our New Mission President, President Waddoups, and his wife—he speaks very good Italian and served in Italy a couple of years before Greg. They (see photo) told us about themselves through personal stories. They have strong testimonies and have sacrificed to be in Italy but know their family will receive great blessings because they are here. They have lots of energy and some great goals for the mission!

Mission Theme
The Waddoups gave every missionary a gold pin of a bee with the words: “Be the Best you can Bee!” There were great presentations by the Zone Leaders, Sister Leaders, and Assistants to the President. We listened to the testimonies of the new missionaries and those leaving in two weeks. We know why the missionaries love to meet for Zone conferences! It was a spiritual boost!

Independence Day Celebration

The Sister Missionaries planned a Fourth of July party for the English classes with the Roma 3 Ward. One of the members set up a barbecue and roasted large sausages. We helped the sisters buy some watermelon at a fruit stand and bring it to the church. There was a great turnout of people, and it gave the English class members a chance to know the ward members.

Called to Serve

One of our Institute members received his mission call to the Italy Milan mission. He leaves this week for the MTC in Madrid. The Institute members had a special celebration to wish Marcos (see photo-center) well.
