October Conference in Italy

General Conference

What an amazing conference—even in Italian! We were fortunate to get to see most of the sessions of conference at our Stake Center with many of the elders and sisters in our Zone.

Elder & Sister Andrew with Dave, Nancy, Susan, & Mike LeSueur
Monday we enjoyed meeting Nancy, Dave, Mike and Susan LeSueur at their Hotel and taking the metro to the Spanish Steps to begin our nightwalk of Rome. Even though it is always packed with tourists, we never tire of seeing all of the beautiful sites. We were able to see the Pantheon at night, which is always breathtaking; Trevi Fountain with its waterfalls; and Piazza Navona—we stopped at a little pizzeria to eat on the way to the bus stop to catch the bus back to the LeSueur’s hotel near Termini. It was a delightful evening!

English Course

The bishopric of Roma 3 hosted a barbecue for the English course students and ward members—it was well attended with about 35 people.

Andrews with Massimo

We met Massimo on one of our walks and invited him to the barbecue.

The Work Continues

Baptism
Gamal, Martina, & Alessandro

This week we had the baptism of Gamal Amin. His wife, Martina was baptized last week, so it was very exciting to see a family join. They are exceptional people and have strong testimonies.

Institute

Delicious cake with fruit between layers
Wednesday night was our last lesson on Church History by Brother Rosato. We have marveled at the faith the early members of the church had! Brother Rosato’s wife brought a delicious zucchini lasagna and a huge cake. We are starting to get better Institute attendance now that summer vacation is over.

Felicia
Weekend
Saturday, we went to the home of Felicia, who we met at English course in July, and she has been investigating the church with the sister missionaries. She recently finished beauty school and is looking for a job. She cut Julie's hair. (see photo below)

Sites in Rome
Rome Temple Construction site

We picked up Nancy, Dave, Susan, and Mike LeSueur at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport with the help of Elder and Sister Kimball, who we work with in Young Single Adults.  We needed their car and help because our car would have been too small to take all 4 of them and their luggage to their Hotel by Termini Station. They attended church with us on Sunday, and we took them by the Rome Temple construction site.

Evening Walk

Pantheon with LeSueurs
We were able to go on an evening walk of Rome with the LeSueurs. We saw the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Novara and ate at a fun little Pizzaria.
